EDUCATION & OUTREACH
The House sponsors a wide variety of educational programs and presentations to members of the UC Davis campus community.
Educational Programs
The House feels it is important to provide services to students where they live or work. These services are educational in nature and designed to meet the specific needs of a particular group. Presentations generally occur in residence halls or at student organization staff meetings. They address wellness issues and provide a forum where students are encouraged to express their feelings and insights about presented topics. These programs are designed to promote group interaction and teach coping skills. They are facilitated by House peer counselors.
This quarter The House offers:
- How to Help a Friend who is depressed
- How to Help a Friend through Grief and Loss
- How to Help a Friend who is Coming Out
- Respect / Diversity
- Long Distance Relationships
- Building & Maintaining Intimate Relationships
- …So You're Leaving Davis… What's Next?
- Mastering Time Management Skills and Overcoming Procrastination
House Presentations
Staff members from the House are available to give short presentations regarding House services and volunteer information to interested campus groups. These presentations are usually presented at residence hall meetings or at staff meetings of student organizations. They are approximately 20 minutes in length and provide those attending the opportunity to gain a greater understanding of House services. To get more information or to schedule a presentation or educational program, please contact The House's Resource/Outreach Coordinators at (530) 752-2790.
